We represent tenants in landlord harassment, habitability, retaliation, discrimination, and related housing matters throughout Los Angeles County.
We represent tenants — not landlords.
Landlord harassment takes many forms. It may involve unlawful entries into your home, repeated interference with your privacy, threats of eviction based on false accusations, or pressure to accept a buyout without proper disclosure of your rights.
Other conduct may include removal of services or amenities that came with your tenancy, refusal to accept lawful rent, threats related to immigration or citizenship status, or any pattern of behavior designed to make you feel unsafe or compelled to leave.
If your landlord's conduct has made it difficult for you to peacefully use and enjoy your home, or if you believe you are being pressured to vacate, we may be able to help.
Request a Case ReviewCalifornia law requires landlords to maintain rental properties in a habitable condition. When landlords ignore repair requests or allow serious problems to persist, tenants may have legal recourse.
Habitability issues may include mold or water intrusion, plumbing failures, pest infestations, lack of heat or hot water, unsafe electrical conditions, or exposure to lead, asbestos, or other hazardous materials during repair or construction work.
If your landlord has failed to address serious conditions after being notified, or if repair work has been started but left unfinished, we may be able to evaluate your situation.
Request a Case ReviewCalifornia law prohibits landlords from retaliating against tenants who exercise their legal rights — including tenants who request repairs, contact a government agency, organize with other tenants, or assert their rights under a lease or local ordinance.
Discrimination in housing is also prohibited on the basis of disability, race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, familial status, source of income, immigration status, age, and other protected characteristics.
If you believe your landlord has taken adverse action against you because of a protected characteristic or because you exercised your rights as a tenant, we may be able to assist you.
